TU Austria at the European Forum Alpbach
TU Austria hosted a joint working group for the first time as part of the Technology Talks at the European Forum Alpbach.“Agile and robust supply chain - successfully managing volatility in business” was the title of the discussion forum, which was chaired by TU Graz expert Christian Ramsauer and featured top-class international speakers.
Crisis-proof through agility
The crises of recent years have shown it in a drastic way: companies have to react to extreme market fluctuations at ever shorter notice and adapt their production accordingly. Raimund Diederichs from McKinsey & Company in Munich, Kurt Gruber from Infineon Technologies AG, Dieter Messner from OBI Group Holding, Guan Zhe Chen, representative of the World Bank, Georg Kasperkowitz from Rail Cargo Austria AG and Reinhilde Veugelers from K.U. Leuven and long-standing advisor to the EU Commission discussed how to make your company crisis-proof through agile supply chains and why dealing with volatility is a central strategic challenge for globally active companies. The aim of the TU Austria working group at the Forum Alpbach was not only to raise awareness of this future-relevant topic, but also to present and discuss international best practice examples and possible solutions.
The century of the supply chain
Christian Ramsauer, expert at Graz University of Technology and Chairman of the TU Austria working group, summarizes: “The topic of agility will continue to grow in importance as the success principle of the future. After all, only an agile supply chain gives companies the room for maneuver they need in the event of economic turbulence. The topic will therefore soon be on the agenda of CEOs in many different industries”
When the European Forum Alpbach 2015 deals with the topic of “InEquality”, TU Austria will once again invite participants to a focus-relevant working group, which will be dedicated to a joint research focus of the three TU Austria universities.
