New Impulses for European University Alliances:
80 Experts from Across Europe Discussed Innovative Strategies for European University Alliances at the Invitation of TU Austria in Brussels

European and national university alliances foster connections between universities and strengthen the exchange and development of joint strategies in teaching and research. The three technical universities of Austria – TU Wien, TU Graz, and Montanuniversität Leoben – united nationally under the network TU Austria, are also key players in various European alliances. True to the motto: “Stronger together.”

"Stronger together" was also the title of a networking event hosted by TU Austria on April 1 at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union in Brussels. More than 80 experts from academia, research, business, and the European Commission came together for an intensive dialogue and exchange of experiences on the goals, opportunities, and future of European University Alliances. Strengthening university cooperation at the European level and establishing new contacts were the clear objectives of the evening.

For Peter Moser, current President of TU Austria and Rector of Montanuniversität Leoben, and TU Austria Vice Presidents Rector Jens Schneider from TU Wien and Rector Horst Bischof from TU Graz, the evening was a complete success:
“The collaboration within European University Alliances enables us to pool our strengths, reinforce the European Research and Education Area, and, together with our young academics, develop innovative solutions for the challenges of the future. And,” the rectors continued, “tonight we were able to expand our networks across the boundaries of several alliances and discuss our visions for the future development of the European University Alliances.”

The TU Austria universities also used the evening with international guests to further position themselves within the EU context and to underscore their leading role as driving forces in the national and European research and innovation landscape. Through their alliances and close cooperation with international partners in research, education, business, and industry, TU Austria makes a significant contribution to the competitiveness of the European Research and Education Area.
