2. TU Austria Summer School Doc + 2019

In the last week of August 2019, the TU Austria Summer School Doc+ cooperation project was successfully implemented for the second time, this year with a focus on project management and organized by TU Graz. A total of 16 dedicated doctoral students from TU Austria universities (TU Wien, Montanuniversität Leoben, TU Graz) completed a week-long intensive joint program in English with the aim of acquiring and developing project management skills.
 

Focus: Project management

Project management skills are essential for every researcher today, as it is part of their daily work to collaborate in various research projects. The five-day TU Austria Summer School Doc+ therefore focused on project management in order to strengthen young researchers in this field for their future careers and, together with the proven expert Lorenz Gareis, the participants developed in-depth knowledge for the management of (research) projects as part of the Summer School.
 

Valuable exchange of information and experience 

A guided tour of the “Laboratory for Innovation” (Institute for Innovation and Industrial Management, Graz University of Technology) and a fireside chat with Horst Bischof, Vice-Rector for Research at Graz University of Technology, offered further opportunities to exchange information and experiences. In addition to this focus on content, team-building elements strengthened the team spirit of the participants and reinforced cohesion during the week.
 

A complete success

After an intensive and exciting week, 16 very satisfied participants were finally able to receive their certificates. In their feedback, the participants confirmed the usefulness of the acquired content for their professional careers as well as the success of the Summer School: “Really great for me to have the honor to participate in this great Summer School! The topic was amazing and I learned a lot for my work!”. There were also several requests for a continuation (“Great job! I hope there are more similar summerschools in the next years!”), which speaks for a continuation of the cooperation project in the coming years.
